SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We are both fortunate and pleased to announce that the internationally distinguished author and scholar Alberto Manguel will officially open this year's Toronto Antiquarian Book Fair, on Friday, November 6th. Born in Argentina in 1948, Alberto had the good fortune, while working after school in a bookstore in Buenos Aires, to meet Jorge Luis Borges who was by now blind, and wanted someone to read aloud to him – enter Alberto, who was with him for four years. He has lived in many countries including Israel, France, England, Tahiti and, perhaps most importantly, in Toronto from 1982 to 2000 where he was so taken with our way of life that he became a Canadian citizen: "When I arrived in Canada, for the first time I felt I was living in a place where I could participate actively as a writer in the running of the state." His many books include (in no particular order) News From a Foreign Country Came, Stevenson Under the Palm Trees, A History of Reading, The Oxford Book of Canadian Ghost Stories (editor), and A Reading Diary. He now lives in New York.

The Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of Canada is pleased to announce the 2015 Toronto Antiquarian Book Fair.
Sponsored by the ABAC, the 2015 Toronto Antiquarian Book Fair joins the prestigious San Francisco, New York and Boston fairs on the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers’ (ILAB) 2015 North American calendar.
As the premiere antiquarian and collectible book fair in Canada, the TABF features exhibitors all of whom are members of the ABAC or their own national associations and, therefore, of the ILAB; they are among the world’s foremost booksellers. They will bring a wide ranging selection of books, maps, prints and manuscripts for your perusal - including travel and exploration; natural history, science and technology; children’s and illustrated; fine press and limited editions; modern first editions and signed volumes; antiquarian and incunabula; as well as interesting and unusual books of all kinds.
Whether you are an experienced or novice book collector, a librarian or an archivist, a scholar or an academic, or are simply interested in books and the book arts in general, you will find something to your taste. We invite you to visit the fair, explore the booths, and purchase the treasures on display. Come and enjoy the show.
